hey skweets, good to hear from you... i'm doing fine thanks... i'm lovin the pic of your dogs haha that's how i'm feeling, totally relaxed and legs in the air haha .... so yeah no posts on the forum since you were last on... i was going to post but one day went into a week and here we are... i've not had the time to be honest.. i'm still working, as an essential worker i've never stopped, so no lockdown for me. but glad i'm not in the house all day because that would drive me mad. no sport is the hardest thing for me, so yeah just going along as normal as you can in this situation... it sis a really difficult situation especially for the elderly who live on their own and not being able to get out or go to church / meet friends. that must take its toll mentally. i started off thinking the lockdown was the right thing to do but I do think it has gone on too long. I also thought that Fauci was coming across well - but my views on this have changed - with a number of well respected scientists and doctors coming out against the lockdown and pointing at Fauci and his connections / support of "big pharma" - and it also seems that the social media companies are trying to censor any dissenting voices - with youtube / Facebook taking down videos. I believe in free-speech, so when that starts to happen i do start to worry why they want to stop that. i could spend more time going on about that but not for now. so yeah apart from all that...
I've been watch a lot of rick beato videos - some really good stuff that i'm sure you'd like. also been working on putting a website together for some of my own stuff - i m going to get that done at some stage - i might even post some stuff on here...
anyway skweets, question for you - and anyone else - what in your opinion is the worst album/s of the bands you love - or as a fan what album was the biggest letdown?
...album huh ? which album was dissappointing when it dropped?
i don't really have an answer or answers for that question - just would not
be fair for me to criticize any of my old favorites like that...,
...But - to get to the point - i would say GC's "spinning Top" album
left me wondering why > why - why why ?
but to be fair i have seen a couple "live shows" that were just horrid ijnsults
to the fans who actually bought tickets.
they both came around the same time '74 - '75, and both were Day on the Green shows put on by Bill Graham at the Oakland baseball stadium.
the grateful Dead are/were guilty - they were sharing the bill with the Who playing
saturday and sunday. legend has it that the bands flipped a coin to decide who would
go on first - saturday - We got the Who - they were awesome - but - 3 hours later when the Dead hit the stage they were missing in action - i'd seen them half a dozen times already in smaller venues and was hoping for an Epic show. just didn't happen
saturday.
the next morning on the cover of the Pink entertainment section of the san francisco
chronicle newspaper the Venerable Ralph Gleason - chronicle music critic - Roasted the Dead - don't know how he managed to get it written and printed the next morning cuz the dead were onstage until 11pm - i almost would like to re-read that article just for laughs - but won't -
because the next afternoon the dead made up for it. on sunday they were the openers
(i went both days) and they ran out onstage quickly picked up and plugged in and Made History for a lot of people. it was Strong & Proud - one of the best shows they ever did.
What a relief !
now - the next guilty Party is Peter Frampton - he was headlining a Big show that included Fleetwood mac- frampton had put out an album "Frampton Comes Alive"
which had made him a Big Star back then (maybe it was '76 )
so - frampton & band hit the stage and frampton is Drunk - it was embarrassing to be there with 50 thousand other fans. In fact frampton was so drunk that he actually laid down went to sleep about an hour into the show, right on the front lip of the stage
crowd started booing - bill graham walked out of the shadows and knelt over frampton
woke him up got his attention - got him to get back up and play the rest(?) of their set.
yeah interesting stuff and i will get on to the spinning top... as for live gigs... i guess it's about the experience, the fact that being live anything can happen...in other words you can never tell what you'll get. that is the excitement of a live event i guess... but maybe not for everyone... you can get unbelievable moments that only the people at the event get to feel part of and you ever know how the band are going to preform... i think that lack of professionalism is something that is really annoying ... you've spent all your money buying the records getting the tickets and they throw it back in your face... or it feels like that. so you i have a big issue with an artist taking fans for granted. as you know it is one of my pet hates. so let me put on the spinning top and i'll get back to you on that....
...Y'allRight...? just wondering - hoping Steve us still in charge around here...,
been checking in on occasion but seemed like there was no "activity"...,
so i just had to say hello at this point - hoping "you Lot" are all doing well
and getting through this "thing" somehow...?
So far so good here with me in Seattle.
i'll see if i can get a picture of my dog on here -
i'm challenged that way - but -
i also wanted to reach out to the Squier himself and let him know
i'm praying for him everyday - Him & "you lot" you all got a slot in
my daily prayers and it's been that way forever - but -
that being said - if GC is still in LA - well...., the last time i "reached out" i asked
if he was enjoying the weather? anyway - LA is taking this Seriously and has the right idea.
Hope to hear some good news here
