At which point did you stop listening to new music?

Post by Jakob » Fri Dec 07, 2018 3:37 am

For me it was probably 2013ish that i stopped trying to keep up with what was coming out each year.

I still find a couple of new (for me) bands that get into each year, but it normally happens in bursts of pure enjoyment and then i can listen to these artists for the rest of the year no prob.

Also i've started to listen to radio programs a lot more. I don't feel the need to dig up the artists afterwards, but can simply enjoy each program as something new.

This year i've listened to Gal Canta Caymmi Press this

Also started listening to Thelonious Monk with orchestra rather than just solo or his quartets/quintets.
Also this

And turn it up for both of them, they sound great ;)

hi jakob, good to see you back on here... and thanks for the links i'll check them out. so to answer your question... i've stopped listening to music at various times in my life... part of the 80's was the first time... i gave up on music for a period then came back to it in the 90's and i'd say in the last 5 years i've no listened to that much new bands... i no longer have the time or i guess interest to do it. I still listen to my favourite bands from time to time and i listen to a lot of pop from the 60's and 70's but that's about it. i'm not saying i will continue with this but if i am honest the bands / musicians that i have liked over the years are no longer releasing music as good as they used to so i don't really know what will generate that spark again...but who knows

Hello ! for me it was 2006 when i moved from seattle to southern Mexico.
just no sources for access - now that i'm back in the ussa - i still enjoy reading about
"new" bands - usually in the context of reviews of upcoming local shows & reviews of shows that have just gone off.
but i'm not listening to any great radio stations where i used to get a lot of exposure...,
and i'm not going to live shows much at all - where i would often discover new bands
in the opening slots for the headliners - just kinda lost it on those fronts....
